Persuasive Proof of Sobriety
When facing criminal charges related to alcohol abuse, proving a period of sobriety can lead to a more favourable sentence. In discussions with the Crown or in submissions to the sentencing judge, defence counsel are often only able to make statements such as “my client tells me they’ve been sober for 6 months”. Imagine how much more persuasive it is to say, “this report from Recovery Science shows that my client has been tested for alcohol 48 times a day for the past 6 months, and shows that they have not consumed any alcohol in that time.” Voluntary participation in our Continuous Alcohol Monitoring (CAM) program enables that level of proof. Using our Remote Breath testing program also enables objective proof of sobriety based on multiple tests per day.
Legal Aid may approve disbursement requests for our alcohol monitoring reports when they are used as evidence of sobriety.
